Our Story
Music Theatre Wichita (MTWichita), founded in 1972 and currently the largest subscribed not-for-profit arts organization in the state of Kansas, has attained an international reputation for excellence. The summer season runs from June through August at Century II Performing Arts Center in downtown Wichita.  MTWichita self-produces five Broadway-scale musical productions, using a unique mixture of top-flight professionals from Broadway and Hollywood working hand-in-hand with talented Midwesterners. Each year eight administrative year-round staff, approximately 55 seasonal performers, 65 seasonal technical staff, and 30 seasonal orchestra members work together to deliver a unique summer musical experience.
What We Offer
Featuring guest stars from Broadway and Los Angeles each summer, MTWichita’s productions have proven to be the springboard for the next generation of young Broadway artists, with nearly 40 alumni currently appearing in New York.
MTWichita’s productions are complete with lavish sets and costumes, full orchestras, large casts, and the Broadway stars of today and tomorrow, all at a fraction of Broadway prices. Since MTWichita is one of the few remaining theatres to build its own sets and costumes, which it then rents to theatres and educational institutions throughout North America, licensing houses and the Disney Theatrical company give Music Theatre Wichita early access to new titles.
